TCL Admissions - Getting Started

Planning to enroll for Fall 2010? Now is the time to apply and get started. This page is an overview of the enrollment process, but don't stop here; contact one of our enrollment experts.  They can answer all of your questions!  Click here

Step 1: Application
The first step for all new and re-admit students is to complete an application with an Admissions representative. A $25 non-refundable application fee and residency forms are required. Please view the residency and citizenship requirements here. Some programs of study require a placement test, ask an Admissions representative at the time of your application. APPLY NOW

NOTE: Certain programs require official high school and/or college transcripts.  Please check with an admissions representative to see if transcripts are necessary for your program of interest.

If you are transferring credits from another institution to TCL, the institution must be accredited through one of the following regional accrediting agencies; Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Northwest Association of Schools and of Colleges and Universities, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Then sign up for the New Student Orientation.  It takes place on August 5 at 8:30 am, Beaufort Campus. Call 843-525-8207 and make your reservation.

Step 2: Advisement
You will be asked to meet with an academic advisor or in-take counselor to plan an appropriate class schedule and register for your classes.

Divisions represented are:
Career Development; Arts & Sciences; Business Technologies; Industrial Technologies

Nursing students will meet with a nursing advisor in Health Sciences, Beaufort Campus, Building 4, Room 115. For more information please call 843.525.8267.

Step 3: Financial Aid/Lottery Tuition Assistance.

The first step in applying for Financial Aid is to complete the FAFSA application at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. The TCL School Code is 009910.


If you are interested in financial assistance or currently receiving assistance you should meet with a Financial Aid representative. Processing will take approximately seven to ten days. Start the process early to avoid the last minute rush before classes begin.

Step 4: Payment
Take your completed course schedule to the Cashier in Building 3 for payment. You may pay by check, cash, MasterCard, Visa, or American Express. The Cashier will provide you with a billing receipt, which you will present when obtaining an identification card and  when purchasing books.

Step 5: Online User ID/Password
If you have registered for online courses you must meet with the Online Help Desk representative to obtain a user ID and password. For more information call 843.525.8344.

You may access your student records, such as class schedules and grades on WebAdvisor. To view information on how to log onto WebAdvisor click here.

Step 6: Student ID Cards
Your student ID card can be obtained in the Learning Resource Center at the New River campus and in Student Records, Bldg 2, at the Beaufort campus.. You must present the billing receipt obtained from the Cashier to receive your student ID.  At Student Records you will also receive your vehicle registration and car decal. You will need your ID card to check out materials from the library. Be certain to place your car decal on your vehicle. If you do not have a decal by the end of the second week you may be fined. Step 7: Book Purchase
You can purchase your books and necessary supplies at the Beaufort Campus, College Bookstore, MacLean Hall, Building 12. Only books for classes offered at the New River Campus can be purchased in the bookstore at the New River Campus. If you are attending classes at the Hampton Campus, you may request your books to be sent to the campus. For more information contact the Hampton Campus at 803.943.4262.
