TCL, area church partner to host college financial aid workshop
Technical College of the Lowcountry has partnered with Campbell Chapel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church to offer a free college financial aid workshop. The event will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 14 at the church located at 25 Boundary St., Bluffton. The public is invited.
“We are honored and excited to partner with Campbell Chapel in this way,” TCL Vice President for Student Affairs Matteel King said. “Figuring out how to pay for college can be a scary process for families, and we have information that can reduce those fears and make the whole process less overwhelming.”
TCL financial aid representatives will share the basics about what parents and students should know when applying for financial aid, summarize the process itself and provide an overview of the many financial aid options available.
“Having money to go to college is often the difference between earning a college degree and not earning one, and we don’t ever want money to be the sole reason that someone doesn’t go to school because the impact and value of a good education is immeasurable and can change an entire family,” King said.
The workshop is part of the church’s Founder Day Celebration, which is emphasizing educational opportunities, according to its pastor, the Rev. Clementa C. Pinckney.
Guests are then invited to attend a worship service at 3 p.m. that will include a message from Allen University’s President Dr. Charles Young and special performances by the Allen University Concert Choir and TCL Gospel Choir.
